Monday intentions: the delightful diaries / a whimsical short week (9/2/2024)

Spread the love

Welcome back to the Delightful Diaries! This is my weekly roundup where I set Monday intentions and update y’all on the following:

1 song I’ve had on repeat in the last week
2 recipes I’ve enjoyed in the last week
3 words/phrases to set a vibe for next week
4 things that have been inspiring me lately, and
5 things I’ve doing to take care of myself.

This is going up on a holiday, so I’m writing it a bit early (today is Friday). You won’t catch me working on a weekend, especially not a long weekend, so take this as your sign to make the most of your time off if you have some today!

1stly, a song I’ve had on repeat: In My Room by Troye Sivan ft. Guitarricadelafuente.

Just a bop. Magical late summer vibes. Great song for a day off Monday intentions sesh.

2 recipes I’ve enjoyed in the last week

  1. I’m not going to lie to you. Tyson Air Fried Chicken Nuggets and Ore-Ida Crinkle Cut fries. I haven’t really cooked this week, and that’s totally fine! Cooking is supposed to be fun, and food is supposed to taste good, so when I’m not up to cooking, I eat frozen food.
  2. My favorite mocktail!
super hydrating mocktail recipe. 1 part coconut water, 1 part sparkling water, 1 tbsp of lime or lemon juice, and a dash of sea salt. Monday intentions are so much easier when you're hydrated...
this easy mocktail recipe is super hydrating.

Not in a mocktail mood? Add another 5-minute self-care activity to your day.

3 words/phrases to set the vibe for this week, not quite monday affirmations but something like that…

  1. Synchronicities
  2. Casual observer
  3. 💙 With love

4 things that have been inspiring me as I set monday intentions…

  1. BIG week for me. I’m getting an office! My BFF and I live with a third roommate who’s moving out, and I’m taking over his room to turn into my workspace/personal hangout cave. Making plans for the space has me crazy excited. I’ll be chronicling the creation of my office on Instagram, if you’re interested!
  2. My personal trainer inspires the hell out of me. She’s a size-inclusive, non-diet, HAES-affirming trainer who has been with me for my entire movement/fitness journey. She’s hosting a wellness fair this weekend and I can’t wait to go meet other like-minded wellness people there!
  3. As usual, Lena Yeo on YT. Super inspirational for me. 💙
  4. Bad Mormon by Heather Gay, a Real Housewife of Salt Lake City. I’m not caught up on RHSLC yet, but she’s my favorite, and I love getting a deep dive into her journey leading up to the show. She has a new book coming out soon, so I’m trying to wrap this one up ASAP.

And finally, 5 things that I’ve done to take care of myself this week

  1. Stretching before bed. I’m recovering from a shoulder injury, but one major joint with an issue can affect my entire body. Stretching before bed in addition to first thing in the morning has kept my chronic pain at a minimum this week, despite having an injury.
  2. Learning how to braid my hair. I find this super frustrating, but super rewarding when I get it right! I’ve been growing out my hair for a few years and it’s finally long enough for a real braid. Learning a new skill is one of my favorite ways to take care of my brain. Brains are meant to LEARN after all.
  3. I’ve been sleeping in a little. This helps with my workout and injury recovery. Extra rest is my number one weapon against chronic pain, burnout, irritability, and brain fog.
  4. I love hitting the steam room at the gym and I’ve made some extra time to go twice this past week (instead of my usual once a week). Sitting in the hot steam room is meditative, healing, and amazing for my skin. I use a little sweet almond oil on my face before I head in for a little weekly facial. It feels like the steam soaks all the way into my joints, which is exactly what I need after lifting.
  5. This week, I started listening to Solfeggio frequencies when I’m stressed or overworked. I’m not going to act like I understand everything about these, but they sure are nice to listen to.

Another Monday intentions sesh in the books. Have an amazing week, friends!
